This Amrut from the Collection Anthology comes from a single ex-bourbon cask. La Maison du Whisky selected cask 11355 exclusively for the Collection Les Anthologistes. The whisky was made from six-row Indian barley grown and malted in Rajasthan. Distillation in February 2022 was followed by four years of maturation before bottling in July 2026.

The cask yielded 174 bottles. The single malt was bottled at a cask strength of 60%, without chill filtration or added colouring. Herbs, malt and spices provide a layered counterpoint to its vanilla and fruit notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is fresh and supple. Vanilla, pear and mirabelle plum meet malt, alfalfa, lemon and acacia honey. The initial aromatic impression moves from sweet to tart. With air, chocolate, liquorice, saffron and curry emerge, along with a medicinal note reminiscent of Tiger Balm.
• Palate: The whisky is expansive and lively on the palate. Banana, pineapple and yellow kiwi appear first, accompanied by verbena, sage and delicate pepper. Cut hay, clover and lemon then come forward. Coconut milk, barley porridge, sweet almond syrup and vanilla add to the creamy impression.
• Finish: The long, substantial finish carries the tropical fruit onwards, combining it with mellow chocolate. Chervil, sorrel, mint, vanilla pods and lime gradually follow. Sweet flan notes contrast with a tart freshness. The empty glass retains intense impressions of porridge, nutmeg and dried flowers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Amrut is based in Bengaluru, formerly Bangalore. J. N. Radhakrishna founded the company in 1948 as Amrut Laboratories. After establishing its rum and brandy business, Amrut also turned to malt distillation around 1980. The Jagdale family developed the company over several generations; Amrut Single Malt was introduced at Café India in Glasgow in 2004.

For this single-cask release, Amrut was responsible for distillation, maturation and bottling. La Maison du Whisky made the exclusive cask selection for the Collection Les Anthologistes. The barley's origins in Rajasthan and maturation in Bengaluru bring together two different regions of India.
