Scottish peated malt and maturation in Bengaluru shape this Amrut from the Collection Anthology. La Maison du Whisky selected bourbon cask no. 11687 exclusively for Les Anthologistes. This single malt dates from 2022 and matured for four years: the cask was filled in June 2022, and the whisky was bottled in July 2026. The single-cask release comprises 180 bottles.

The whisky was bottled at its cask strength of 60%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Its old-gold hue accompanies a profile in which peat, fruit and medicinal notes develop into powerful smoke on the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, peat, chocolate and malt meet a soft liquorice note. With air, orange, banana and mango emerge, accompanied by arnica and ash. Floral aromas of iris, violet and lavender then unfold.
• Palate: The palate is lively and direct. Peat appears alongside ginger, gentian and earthy, salty tones. Mango and persimmon soon follow, joined by chocolate and apricot. Towards the end, marshmallow, cough sweets and cloves come together.
• Finish: The finish is soft and full-bodied, with a medicinal character reminiscent of Tiger Balm, spicy paprika and camphor. Slate and mineral salts accompany the now dry peat. On exhaling, orange and pink grapefruit peel bring freshness before powerful smoke, soot, bacon and game notes increasingly take over.

Distillery/Bottler:

Amrut is based in Bengaluru, in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Shri J.N. Radhakrishna founded the company as Amrut Laboratories in 1948. After producing rum and brandy, it turned to malt whisky distillation in the 1980s. In 2004, Amrut presented its single malt at the Cafe India restaurant in Glasgow, bringing Indian malt whisky onto the Scottish stage.

For this edition, Amrut uses peated malted barley from Scotland. Distillation, maturation and bottling take place at Amrut in India. Through its exclusive cask selection for Les Anthologistes, La Maison du Whisky plays a distinct role in assembling the collection.
