For Arran Barley, the island connection begins in the field. The Currie family grows the barley at Bellevue Farm on the Isle of Arran. For the second release in the range, the distillery uses the Concerto variety, whereas Batch 001 used Optic. These annual small-batch releases vary with the barley variety, harvest conditions and cask selection.

Batch 002 matured for ten years in a selection of first-fill Bourbon Barrels. The 2026 release comprises 18,000 bottles and is bottled at 50% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The bottle comes in a cylindrical gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Fresh herbs and lively citrus notes meet gentle vanilla sweetness on the nose. A hint of anise adds another aromatic touch.
• Palate: Ginger biscuits and vanilla emerge on the palate. Citrus notes accompany the fruit, while a layered, oily texture gives it depth.
• Finish: The finish is rich and warming. Gentle anise notes and sweet spices linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lochranza Distillery stands in the village of the same name on the Isle of Arran. Proximity to Loch na Davie played an important part in choosing the site: it supplies the water for Arran Single Malt. The company's second distillery, Lagg, opened in the south of the island in 2019 and focuses on a peated style of single malt.

At Lochranza, the wort is fermented with yeast in wooden washbacks before being distilled twice in copper pot stills. Cask selection then plays a major role in the whisky's development. Arran does not add caramel colouring and does not chill-filter its malts bottled above 43%; their colour develops during maturation in wood.
