Special Features:

The Paris Edition 2026 brings together three distinct cask influences: Chichibu marries whisky from first- and second-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry hogsheads and new American white oak casks. The selection comprises 14 casks, with whiskies aged between six and twelve years. This lightly peated whisky is bottled at 50.5%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

The Collection Monet presents the same whisky with six different paintings by Claude Monet. The Bleu version features “The Water Lily Pond and Path by the Water” from 1900. Of the total release of 2,484 bottles, 414 bear this painting and are numbered from 2,071 to 2,484. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in black gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is delicate and smooth, with an almost candied lemon acidity. Pear, mirabelle plum and coconut mingle with pine resin and almond syrup. With air, subtle ginger and nutmeg notes unfold.
• Palate: The palate opens delicately and vibrantly with lemon, apple jelly and candied pear. Alfalfa and malt then introduce a fresh, green character. White grapes, medlar and yellow kiwi subsequently broaden the fruit flavours.
• Finish: The finish is soft and full-bodied. Coconut and rice pudding combine with pineapple, plantain and a chalk-like minerality. Liquorice, almonds, cashews and floral geranium notes emerge as the finish develops.

Distillery/Bottler:

Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto, who established Venture Whisky in 2004. Before that, he had acquired whisky stocks from the Hanyu distillery, whose history was connected to his family. He built his own distillery in Chichibu, in Saitama Prefecture, where whisky production began in February 2008.

The original distillery has eight fermentation washbacks made from Japanese Mizunara oak and two copper pot stills from Scottish manufacturer Forsyths. Lactic acid bacteria living in the wood also contribute to fermentation. The two stills carry out the first and second distillations in sequence. Venture Whisky Ltd. produces and bottles the Paris Edition 2026.
