Special Features:

The Paris Edition 2026 brings together three distinct cask influences: Chichibu marries whisky from first- and second-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry hogsheads and new American white oak casks. The whiskies come from 14 casks in total. This lightly peated composition is bottled at 50.5%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Six paintings by Claude Monet adorn the Collection Monet, with the same whisky inside each of the different labels. The Orange variant features “Japanese Bridge in Giverny” from 1900. Of the edition's total of 2,484 bottles, 414 bear this painting and are numbered from 1,657 to 2,070. The 0.7-litre bottle comes with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: An almost candied lemon note shapes the delicate, smooth nose. Pear, mirabelle plum and coconut mingle with pine resin and almond syrup. With air, subtle notes of ginger and nutmeg emerge.
• Palate: The whisky opens delicately and vivaciously on the palate with lemon, apple jelly and candied pear. Alfalfa and malt then add fresh accents before white grapes, medlar and yellow kiwi come to the fore.
• Finish: The soft, full finish combines creamy coconut and rice pudding notes with pineapple, plantain and chalky minerality. Liquorice, almonds, cashews and geranium flowers emerge as the finish continues.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ichiro Akuto founded Chichibu in Japan's Saitama Prefecture, around 100 kilometres northwest of Tokyo. The distillery belongs to Venture Whisky and began production in February 2008. Akuto's connection to whisky reaches back another generation: his grandfather founded the now-closed Hanyu distillery.

The original Chichibu distillery houses Japanese Mizunara oak washbacks and two small copper pot stills made by Scottish manufacturer Forsyths. Hot, humid summers alternate with cold winters at the site. These pronounced temperature differences influence the whisky's maturation in cask and are among the distillery's defining conditions.

Facts:
