Special Features:

This German rum spent all six years of maturation in a single 100-litre ex-sherry cask. It is the first bottling made to Flensburg Rum Company's own recipe. Distillers in Germany with whom the company has friendly ties distilled the rum to this recipe. The collaboration therefore begins with the spirit itself, rather than only with the selection of a mature rum.

FRC bottled the rum at a cask strength of 64.4%, without chill filtration or added colouring. Its aromas combine dark dried fruit and caramel with oak spice and nutty sherry nuances. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Raisins and prunes lead the nose. Caramel and vanilla complement the dark fruit, while toasted oak and nutty touches add further facets. Sherry remains subtle in the background.
• Palate: The rum is powerful, smooth and full-bodied on the palate. Dates and raisins meet dark caramel and sweet molasses. Toasted oak, restrained spices and a light roasted note provide a spicy contrast, with sherry completing the flavour profile.
• Finish: The medium-length finish carries lingering raisins, other dried fruit and caramel. A subtle nutty sherry note accompanies the aftertaste, rounded out by dry oak and gentle warmth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Flensburg Rum Company, or FRC for short, belongs to Oldman Spirits GmbH, based in Jübek in Schleswig-Holstein. The brand focuses primarily on single cask and small-batch bottlings. Oldman Spirits also develops rum blends and undertakes product development and bottling for other clients.

Until 2019, the team carried out all bottling, labelling and packaging by hand. The company subsequently expanded its cask warehouse and added semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling equipment. For this German single cask rum, FRC supplied the recipe and handled the bottling, while distillation was entrusted to distillers with whom it has friendly ties.
