Special Features:

A Burgundy wine cask shapes this single-cask release from Highland Park. Distilled in May 2014, the single malt matured in First Fill Burgundy Wine Barrique number 130/2014. The Old Friends had the twelve-year-old whisky bottled in Scotland in August 2026.

The release comprises 306 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres at 54.6% alcohol. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Aladdin and the Genie appear on the cream-coloured label.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe red fruits and heather honey mingle with orange zest and light vanilla on the nose. Floral hints, mild oak spice and a subtle note of heather smoke complete the aromas.
• Palate: Malty sweetness combines with pronounced oak spice and pepper on the palate. Tannins lend a dry structure to the mouthfeel. Red fruits, dried fruit and a restrained citrus note round out the flavours.
• Finish: The long finish begins with fruity sweetness before becoming drier. Oak and pepper remain present, accompanied by gentle smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Highland Park is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands and traces its history back to 1798. The distillery operates its own traditional malting floors, supplying part of its malt requirements. Its peat comes from Hobbister Moor, where heather and other low-growing plants rather than trees shape the vegetation and, in turn, the character of the peat.

The Old Friends is a brand of independent bottler Scotch Universe. Founded in 2016 by Alexander Springensguth and Michel Reick, the company is based in Dülmen. While its namesake range uses astronomical names and coded coordinates, this release bears the Highland Park distillery name and an illustration of a pair of friends on the label.
