This release brings together two cask profiles: for Virgin Oak Batch 1, Milroy's of Soho marries 40% whisky matured in virgin oak casks with 60% from first-fill casks that previously held Kentucky bourbon. The virgin oak adds a lively accent alongside the bold, coastal peat character and oily texture of this single malt from the Scottish Lowlands.

The whisky is bottled at 46% alcohol without chill filtration or added colouring. It can be enjoyed neat or over ice and also works in a smoky highball or a Penicillin cocktail.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Medicinal smoke and adhesive plasters give the powerful nose its distinctive character. Tomato leaves join orange peel and charred fruit. Black pepper and liquorice add spice, with a milk-chocolate creaminess underneath. Over time, the nose takes on an industrial character, joined by green peppers, fennel and aromatic herbal oil.
• Palate: Juicy black cherry, sugar sweets and strawberry jam on slightly burnt toast meet cinnamon spice and smoke reminiscent of roadworks. Eucalyptus and anise bring herbal notes, while the root-like flavours recall dandelion and burdock.
• Finish: The finish lasts exceptionally long. Notes of kerosene and sweet chilli chocolate linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Milroy's of Soho has been based on London's Greek Street since 1964. Today, the specialist whisky shop also has a bar with more than 300 open bottles and hosts tasting events. Alongside trading in rare spirits, the team selects whiskies for its own bottlings. The Heavily Peated range focuses on whiskies with a pronounced peaty character. The distillery behind Virgin Oak Batch 1 remains unnamed; Milroy's of Soho is responsible for the bottling.
