Monkey Shoulder The Original brings together selected single malt whiskies from Scotland's Speyside region. Small-batch selection and subsequent blending are intended to create a consistent, smooth and fruity character. As a blended malt, it consists exclusively of malt whiskies and contains no grain whisky.

The gift set pairs a 0.7-litre bottle at 40% alcohol with a tumbler. The whisky is suitable both for drinking neat and for mixing, for example in an Old Fashioned. Alongside its vanilla and fruit character, it also has a ginger note.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, malty sweetness and honey mingle with floral notes. Orange peel and vanilla are joined by a hint of dark chocolate.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth, creamy and full-bodied on the palate. Caramel and vanilla meet delicate nutmeg and pepper spice.
• Finish: The long finish remains spicy, with a subtle mint note.

Monkey Shoulder is backed by William Grant & Sons, an independent family-owned company with Scottish roots, founded in 1887. Launched in 2005, the brand combines the selection of Speyside single malts with a concept specifically geared towards cocktails.

The name recalls the physically demanding work of maltsters in earlier times: repeatedly turning barley by hand could cause a shoulder injury known as “Monkey Shoulder”. The brand thus preserves a connection to the people behind traditional malt production.
