Special Features:

Neisson SouBwa puts maturation in wood at the heart of its character. Made from fresh sugarcane juice in Le Carbet on Martinique, this rhum agricole matures for up to 25 months in large oak casks and barriques. It bears the protected AOC Martinique designation of origin.

The blend draws on Neisson’s experiments with toasting profiles 62, 107 and 105. Varying temperatures and heating times during cask preparation are among the distillery’s tools. SouBwa brings this work together in a gently wood-influenced composition, with its bottling strength deliberately adjusted to 49%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The intense nose reveals pronounced roasted notes of coffee and roasted cocoa.
• Palate: Bold caramel combines with fruit compote, spices and sweet notes on the palate. Together, they create a rounded impression and give the flavour depth.
• Finish: A gentle, supple impression lingers on the finish, further emphasising the rum’s roundness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Neisson’s story began in 1931, when Adrien Neisson bought land on the Thieubert estate in Le Carbet and planted sugarcane. The distillery’s establishment was officially confirmed in 1932. His brother Jean, a chemical engineer, contributed the technical expertise. In 1995, Jean’s grandson Grégory Vernant and Grégory’s mother Claudine Neisson Vernant took over the family business.

Neisson ferments its sugarcane juice with its own yeasts for 72 to 120 hours. Continuous distillation takes place in an all-copper Savalle column, installed in 1952 and further developed by Jean Neisson. It is dismantled and inspected every year. Bottling also takes place on the estate. The distinctive bottle with its broad, angular shoulders is based on a design by the founder.
