Special Features:

This third release of R.A.S.C. brings historic naval stocks together in a new blend. Its contents came from fourteen wicker-covered stoneware vessels into which the rum had been filled back in 1954. The blend was created in 2026 using the private stocks of La Maison & Velier. R.A.S.C. stands for Royal Army Service Corps.

This molasses rum comes from Jamaica and is offered at 53.9% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. Its concentrated character combines rancio, dried fruit, mocha and leather. Its connection with the British Royal Navy recalls the daily rum ration that was abolished in 1970.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Initially, lacquer, hot asphalt, wood filler and walnut stain meet roasted mango and leather. Cherries steeped in brandy and very old Pedro Ximénez sherry add to the oxidative impressions. With air, figs, dates, walnuts, burnt rubber, dark chocolate with 100% cocoa, molasses and artichoke bottoms emerge.
• Palate: The rum feels soft and full-bodied on the palate. Artichoke bottoms are followed by liqueur-like impressions with dried currants, carrot cake and jam. Rose petals and patchouli emerge towards the end.
• Finish: The concentrated finish feels velvety. Ginseng, iris and geranium combine with truffle, mocha, blood orange and slightly scorched apricot tart. Pure molasses emerges over time. The impressions remain powerful and deep both retronasally and in the empty glass.

Distillery/Bottler:

Velier was founded in Genoa in 1947 by Casimir Chaix as a wine and spirits merchant. Luca Gargano took over the company in 1986 and developed its own bottlings further: the first single-cask whiskies in 1992 were followed by its first rum selection in 1996. Selecting historic stocks forms part of this work, alongside collaboration with rum producers. Velier acts as the independent bottler for R.A.S.C.
