Redbreast Moscatel Edition

Special features: The Redbreast Moscatel Edition is the fifth release of the renowned Iberian Series and is distinguished by the use of Moscatel wine casks from Málaga, Spain. These casks were previously aged with Moscatel wine from the historic Bodega Quitapenas for two years before being filled with Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. After a 16-month maturation in these casks, this whiskey presents an elegant, citrus-forward note with a Mediterranean depth.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Fresh, sweet mandarins and orange peels, accompanied by delicate herbal notes like chamomile tea, as well as hints of nutmeg and cedarwood.
  • Palate: Vibrant fruit notes combined with layered flavors of toffee and honeycomb, subtle undertones of dried herbs, while the oak remains consistently present.
  • Finish: Lingering pot still spices and wine-soaked oak that persist until the last drop.

Distillery/Bottler: Redbreast is produced by the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. The Midleton Distillery has a long history and is known for its expertise in producing Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. The collaboration with Bodegas Quitapenas, a family-run bodega in Málaga, Spain, that has been in operation since 1880, underscores the deep connection between Redbreast and the tradition of sherry and port wine production.
