Special Features:

A finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks follows this small batch whiskey’s initial maturation in ex-bourbon barrels. The blend combines single pot still and grain whiskey, with casks selected from Skellig Six18’s maturation warehouse on the County Kerry coast. The whiskey is triple distilled and bottled at 40% in 0.7-litre bottles.

The pot still component gives the blend spice and structure. The PX finish adds silky sweetness with dried fruit, honeyed oak and dark chocolate. The result combines a smooth character with spicy depth.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, honeyed malt notes meet dried fruit and gentle vanilla. A hint of toasted oak rounds out the aromas.
• Palate: The whiskey is smooth and rounded on the palate. Spicy, nutty notes combine with sweet sherry, caramel and dark chocolate.
• Finish: The long finish is warming and gently spicy. A subtle sea-salt nuance lingers alongside.

Distillery/Bottler:

Skellig Six18 is based in Cahersiveen on Ireland’s Skellig Coast. Its distillery, maturation and blending warehouse, and visitor centre occupy a former textile factory that once employed more than 240 people. Before its conversion, the building also served as winter storage for excursion boats to Skellig Michael.

Selected whiskeys mature in the on-site warehouse until they reach the desired flavour profile. They are then blended and bottled in Cahersiveen. The name Six18 refers to the 618 steps on Skellig Michael that lead to its monastery.
