Special Features:

Maturation entirely in Oloroso sherry casks shapes this twelve-year-old Tamdhu. Both first-fill and previously used sherry casks are employed. The greater influence of American oak gives this expression a lighter, approachable character within the sherry-cask style.

The whisky develops its amber colour solely during cask maturation; no colouring is added. It matures in traditional dunnage warehouses and is bottled at 43% alcohol. The gift set contains a 0.7-litre bottle and two tumblers in black-and-gold gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose recalls iced cinnamon rolls, accompanied by fresh, sweet oak and a hint of mint.
• Palate: The whisky coats the palate with a silky texture. Banana, berry jam and malt biscuits combine with a pronounced sherry-oak character.
• Finish: The long, balanced finish brings ground spices, dried fruit and the sweetness of Scottish butter fudge. A very delicate trace of peat smoke emerges at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamdhu was founded on the River Spey in 1897. The following year, its founders secured their first shipment of sherry casks from Spain. Today, the distillery in Scotland’s Speyside still relies entirely on maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.

Work on the cask begins long before whisky maturation: six years pass between the forest and the finished cask’s arrival at the distillery. The wood and its prior seasoning with sherry thus form an essential part of production before the whisky begins its many years of maturation in Scotland.
