For this limited edition in the Small Batch Series, Teeling has teamed up with Venezuelan rum producer Santa Teresa. Its foundation is a blend of grain and malt whiskey initially matured in ex-bourbon casks. The whiskey then undergoes an additional maturation in casks previously used for Santa Teresa's Solera rum. This collaboration therefore focuses on a different selection of rum casks from the regular Small Batch.

The rum cask influence reveals itself in caramel, honey and dark chocolate, alongside apricots, figs and other dried fruit. Barley notes and fresh pome fruit provide a contrast. Teeling bottles this edition at 46% without chill filtration. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Caramel, honey and dark chocolate meet barley and fresh pome fruit on the nose.
• Palate: Vanilla and honey combine with a light touch of spice on the palate. Apricots, figs and other dried fruit complete the flavour profile.
• Finish: The long finish brings dried fruit, cinnamon, creamy barley notes and pastry. These impressions give way to lingering oak tannins.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Teeling family's whiskey history dates back to 1782, when Walter Teeling opened a small distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin. Jack and Stephen Teeling began building on this heritage in 2012. In 2015, they opened their new distillery in the Liberties district, close to the family's historic site. It was Dublin's first new distillery in over 125 years.

Unusual cask maturations are part of Teeling's approach. The Small Batch Collaborations centre on partnerships with other drinks producers and the considered use of their casks. For this edition, Santa Teresa contributes more than 200 years of Venezuelan rum history and experience in maturation and blending. The partnership uses Solera casks that have previously held rum for the whiskey's additional maturation.
