Small American oak Quarter Casks shape the maturation of Wolfburn Northland. The Single Malt spends at least eight years in them; ex-bourbon Quarter Casks with an Islay connection are used for the miniature. The whisky matures on the distillery grounds and is also bottled there.

Northland belongs to the permanent range and continues the legacy of Wolfburn's first whisky release. The miniature contains 0.05 litres at 46% alcohol. The whisky retains its natural colour and is not chill-filtered. It is offered without additional packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The whisky opens with sweet fruit aromas and fresh sea air. Behind them lie citrus freshness, a little cereal and a delicate trace of peat smoke.
• Palate: Sweet, nutty notes lead on the palate, with subtle hints of grapes and honey. Floral aromas are abundant, complemented by a touch of dried fruit and spice.
• Finish: Soft, sweet impressions fade slowly. At the very end, a delicate note of peat smoke settles over them.

Distillery/Bottler:

Wolfburn is located in Thurso, in the Scottish region of Caithness. The present distillery was built in 2012 near the remains of its 19th-century predecessor. On 25 January 2013, Burns Night, fresh spirit flowed from the stills once again for the first time. The Wolf Burn stream links the new site to the history of the old distillery.

Production takes place on site, from milling the malt to bottling. Wolfburn uses long fermentation and gentle distillation in copper stills. The whisky then matures in cool, dark warehouses. This unhurried approach underpins the distillery's soft, warming style.
