Special Features:

This rum from Fiji combines twelve years of cask maturation with an unusually intense fruit character. Distilled in 2010, it matured in a Barrel in Fiji. Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled it in the United Kingdom in 2022 as a single-cask release. Cask 18 yielded 268 bottles; the rum received no additional finish.

This molasses-based rum was bottled without dilution at 64.6%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in black gift packaging with gold accents.

Its individuality lies in the contrast between tropical fruit and pronounced oily and waxy impressions. The intense fruitiness, at times reminiscent of synthetic fruit flavours, recalls expressive Jamaican rums and the aromatic character of rhum agricole.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals exceptionally intense tropical fruitiness, pronounced funk and fruit notes reminiscent of synthetic flavours.
• Palate: On the palate, pineapple, guava and grapefruit combine with linseed oil, engine oil, beeswax and paraffin. A vanilla note reminiscent of vanilla soda forms the flavour backdrop.
• Finish: The finish is warm and fruity, with vanilla notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Berry Bros. & Rudd is a London wine and spirits merchant with roots dating back to 1698. Its founder, known as Widow Bourne, opened a grocery shop on St James’s Street selling goods including tea, spices and coffee, and supplying the surrounding coffee houses. After her death, her daughter Elizabeth and Elizabeth’s husband William Pickering continued the business.

For this rum, Berry Bros. & Rudd acts as the independent bottler. Selecting individual casks allows it to release spirits with a clearly defined origin and maturation profile. Here, the focus is on a rum distilled and matured in Fiji, released by the house under its own name.
