Clan Colla 13 Jahre Oloroso Finish 0,7 l

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Clan Colla 13 Jahre Oloroso Finish is an Irish blend of grain whiskey and double-distilled malt whiskey. After maturing in former bourbon casks, it received a generous finish in Oloroso casks from Jerez. The whiskey carries a 13-year age statement, and Gareth McAllister selected the whiskeys and casks used. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Clan Colla was launched in 2021 as a hand-selected collection within the Family Bond Series. Its name recalls the three legendary Colla brothers: Colla Uais, Colla Fo Chrí and Colla Menn. According to tradition, they ruled over large parts of Ireland, and Colla Uais is said to have become High King of Ireland in the 4th century.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, apple and orange meet pronounced citrus freshness and toasted oak, rounded out by honey and creamy notes.
• Palate: The blend is smooth and creamy-sweet on the palate. Citrus and sherry notes develop into riper fruit, nuts, caramel and fresh apricot, accompanied by a mature malty note.
• Finish: The finish is deep and rounded, gradually becoming warmer as fruit and nuts linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ahascragh Distillery, based in the village of Ahascragh in County Galway, is responsible for Clan Colla. Gareth and Michelle McAllister established the family business in a restored 19th-century mill. The 13-year-old whiskey was not distilled at Ahascragh: for the Family Bond Series, the company sources Irish whiskeys from other distilleries and handles parts of the subsequent maturation, finishing, blending and bottling in western Ireland.

The modern distillery in the historic mill building uses no fossil fuels to power its operations. Wind and solar electricity supply high-temperature heat pumps, while thermal storage and heat recovery return otherwise unused energy to the production process.
