Clan Colla 9 Jahre Bordeaux Finish 0,7 l

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Clan Colla 9 combines malt and grain whiskeys in a nine-year-old blended Irish whiskey. The components were initially matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak; the subsequent finish in French Bordeaux red wine casks is the first Bordeaux finish in the Family Bond Series. The whiskey is bottled at 46%, is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Its profile ranges from toffee and brown sugar through dark fruit and peppery spice to woody spice and vanilla.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines sweet toffee and brown sugar with a subtle hint of dark fruit.
• Palate: The whiskey starts with peppery spice on the palate, which gives way to creamy fruitiness with notes of Bordeaux red wine.
• Finish: Woody spice and gentle vanilla remain present throughout the long-lasting finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gareth and Michelle McAllister established Ahascragh Distillery in a restored grain mill dating from the early 1800s in Ahascragh, County Galway. The distillery uses wind and solar power, thermal storage and high-temperature heat pumps to operate its facilities without fossil fuels.

For the Family Bond Series, Ahascragh selects whiskeys from other Irish distilleries, further matures and finishes some of them, blends them and bottles them in the west of Ireland while its own distillates mature. The components of Clan Colla 9 were likewise not distilled at Ahascragh. The Clan Colla name draws on the McAllister family’s whiskey tradition.
