At Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers, whisky is being distilled legally for the first time on the small Isle of Raasay. What's more, the pioneering distillery's single malt is matured in a cask combination that's new to Scotland. The "Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") recipe combines peated and unpeated spirits, each of which is matured separately in three cask types: first-fill rye whiskey casks, virgin chinkapin oak casks, and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks.
With the Na Sia series, Raasay makes the six components of the recipe available as single casks every two years – the unpeated casks in the first half of the year, the peated casks in the second half. For whisky fans? A rare opportunity to witness how the Hebridean malt evolves.

For the Unpeated Chinkapin Oak Single Cask, the North American oak casks are freshly charred and toasted. This treatment gives the single malt a rich color and a robust aroma characterized by sweet toffee, dark fruits, and ginger.
