Special Features:

Akashi Blended combines 30% malt whisky with 70% grain whisky. It matures in bourbon casks and American oak casks. Eigashima Shuzo bottles it at 40% in 0.5-litre bottles. This whisky carries no age statement.

Malty and fruity notes meet vanilla and oak, with almonds, floral hints and sweet spices adding further detail. The palate is soft yet dry, while sweet fruit and wood shape the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings malt, fruit and almonds alongside sherry notes. Oak and vanilla are joined by a floral hint of chamomile.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is rounded, soft and sweet. Vanilla and malt mingle with oak, spices and delicate tannins.
• Finish: The long finish shows sweet fruit, vanilla and oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Eigashima Shuzo was founded in Akashi in 1888. The company obtained a whisky-making licence in 1919 and introduced White Oak Whisky; in 1984, it built its own whisky distillery beside its headquarters. Eigashima uses water from its own wells to make whisky. Its casks are stored near the Seto Inland Sea, where pronounced seasonal temperature differences favour the whisky’s maturation. For fermentation, the company also uses a sake-inspired Shubo method to help start the process. Eigashima makes and bottles Akashi Blended itself.
