Special Features:

Meisei Deluxe is a Japanese blend with a 50% malted barley content. After maturation in American oak casks, it receives a one-year finish in sherry casks. The whisky is offered at 50% alcohol in a 0.5-litre bottle and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Its character brings together sweet honey and vanilla notes with chocolate and orange zest. Wood, dried fruit, spices and nuts add further dimensions, while the sherry influence shapes the sweet finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is soft and sweet, with honey, vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon and orange zest.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is smooth and balanced, with notes of wood, dried fruit, spices and nuts.

Distillery/Bottler:

Akashi is produced by Eigashima Shuzo in the city of Akashi on the Seto Inland Sea. The company has held a whisky production licence since 1919. It uses groundwater from its own wells for its products and imports malt from Great Britain for whisky production.

Eigashima Shuzo matures its whisky in oak casks at its coastal site in Akashi. The distillery also uses the Shubo method, inspired by sake production, to help fermentation begin quickly and encourage the development of complex aromas.
