Special Features:

Akashi Single Malt brings together whiskies matured in bourbon and sherry casks. The distillery marries these differently matured malts to create a whisky that combines sweet woody notes with spicy and lightly peaty impressions. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.

This bottling won a silver medal at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition in both 2022 and 2023. The 0.5-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals malt and gentle fruit notes, accompanied by chamomile, sherry and a sweet, woody impression.
• Palate: The whisky is rounded on the palate, with delicate butter and vanilla notes. Spice and dark chocolate add to the flavour, while a light hint of peat remains subtle.
• Finish: The finish combines gentle sweetness, woody notes and vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Akashi is produced by EIGASHIMA SHUZO CO.,LTD. at the Eigashima Distillery, also known as White Oak. The company is based in the city of Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture, on the Seto Inland Sea. Its roots lie in sake production: Hyokichi Urabe founded the company in 1888 by bringing together local sake producers. A new whisky distillery was built beside the present-day headquarters in 1984.

Seven historic wooden storage and production buildings stand on the site, each serving a different purpose. Their thick walls and few windows reduce the influence of outside air and help maintain a steady indoor temperature. The second warehouse, completed in 1891, is now used to store shochu and whisky. The history of sake production thus remains visible in the infrastructure of today's spirits producer.
