Hakushu Distiller's Reserve combines the fresh, herb-led character of the forest distillery with citrus notes and a subtle hint of smoke. Peppermint, melon and cucumber meet yuzu, grapefruit and lemon thyme in this expression.

This Japanese single malt is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. Its colour is pale gold.

Distillery/Bottler:

Keizo Saji founded the Hakushu Distillery in 1973 as Suntory's second whisky distillery. It stands in a forest in Japan's Southern Alps, near Mount Kaikomagatake. Its exceptionally soft water comes from rain and snow that flow through the mountains. The distillery uses wooden washbacks for fermentation; different stills and casks allow it to create a range of Hakushu malt characters. Distiller's Reserve is a single malt from the distillery, offered by Suntory as an original bottling at 43%.
