Nikka Yoichi 10 y.o. Single Malt

Special features: The Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Single Malt is a masterpiece of Japanese whisky craftsmanship, produced at the historic Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. This distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who is considered a pioneer of Japanese whisky and learned his craft in Scotland. The whisky matures in a combination of bourbon, sherry, and new oak casks, contributing to its complex array of flavors. With a smoky character and a hint of sea breeze, it reflects the rugged coastal landscape in which it is created.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Full and smooth with salty and slightly smoky notes, accompanied by citrus fruits, spices, and a touch of licorice.
  • Palate: Balanced and robust with flavors of smoke, fruits, and nuts, underscored by sweet accents.
  • Finish: Long and silky with malt, smoke, and fresh notes.

Distillery/Bottler: The Nikka Whisky Distilling Co., Ltd. was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who is regarded as the father of Japanese whisky. He learned his craft in Scotland and brought this knowledge to Japan, where he established the country's first whisky distillery. Today, Nikka operates two distilleries: Yoichi on Hokkaido and Miyagikyo on Honshu.
