Special Features:

Nobushi combines malt and grain whiskies from Miyagi and Nagano with maturation in American oak. The maturation period is up to four years. The blend is bottled at 40% without chill filtration or added colouring; this version contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging.

Floral notes and fresh stone fruit complement darker fruit impressions of dried apricot, raisins, candied orange, dates and prunes. Vanilla, caramel and cocoa accompany the fruit, while warm baking spices and lightly toasted oak give the profile definition. A subtle smoky note adds to its balanced character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals delicate notes of dried apricot and sweet raisins, accompanied by a hint of chocolate.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is fruit-forward, full-bodied and balanced. Candied oranges, dates and prunes meet cocoa, vanilla, caramel and warm baking spices.
• Finish: The medium-length finish is smooth, velvety and clean. Fruit notes persist, while delicate cocoa and dried fruit linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Behind Nobushi is Kiyokawa Co., Ltd., a Japanese company that blends whiskies and distils spirits. The brand was developed in collaboration with Fraternity Spirits and launched in 2019.

Kiyokawa's Iiyama Mountain Farm Distillery has been producing spirits in the mountainous north of Nagano Prefecture since 2019. Harsh, snowy winters alternate with hot summers. The company grows its own barley, rice and wheat and uses copper pot stills in Iiyama. This farming-led approach forms part of its own distillery practice; Nobushi brings together selected whiskies from Miyagi and Nagano.
