Shinobu Blended Whisky - Mizunara Wood Finish

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 43% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Shinobu Blended Whisky combines selected malt and grain whiskies in equal proportions. Maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks is followed by a finish in Japanese Mizunara oak. The whisky is bottled at 43% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Butter, coconut and mint meet grass and wood. Vanilla and delicate incense accompany the soft, slightly oily texture, while sandalwood, oak and vanilla come together in the lingering finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, butter and coconut candy combine with mint, grass and wood.
• Palate: The whisky is soft and slightly oily on the palate, with delicate incense accompanying butter and vanilla.
• Finish: The lingering finish fades with sandalwood, oak and vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Shinobu is based in Japan’s Niigata Prefecture. Founder and Master Blender Ken Usami, who is also behind Niigata Beer, obtained the prefecture’s first whisky distillation licence in 2017. For this blend, he selects malt and grain whiskies from different distilleries, combines them in a one-to-one ratio and oversees their finishing in Mizunara oak.
