Real matcha powder gives this vegan liqueur its green tea character. Tipsy Tanuki Matcha Latte combines the creamy texture of a latte with the grassy and savoury facets of tea. The recipe is gluten-free but contains soy. The liqueur comes from Germany and is offered at 15% alcohol in bottles containing 0.5 litres.

Shake the bottle vigorously before pouring to distribute the matcha powder. The liqueur can be enjoyed on its own over ice, added to hot or cold drinks, or used as a topping for desserts.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, a distinct matcha note meets creamy sweetness. Grassy, vegetal tones and delicate herbal notes round out the aroma.
• Palate: Green tea leads on the palate. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded, accompanied by a light, savoury umami note.
• Finish: The tea character lingers in the finish. Gentle bitterness combines with a creamy impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

NORK GmbH & Co. KG is the company behind Tipsy Tanuki. Siblings Ann-Katrin and Johann Dallmeyer founded NORK in 2016 with the aim of reinterpreting Korn, the German grain spirit. After two years of product development, the first bottling was released in October 2016; most of its 300 bottles had already been sold through a crowdfunding campaign. The first limited-edition liqueurs followed from 2018, and unusual combinations such as raspberry and rosemary or coffee and liquorice later became part of the range.

With Tipsy Tanuki, a brand launched in 2026, the company based in Hamburg and Bremen focuses on Asian-inspired liqueurs. Matcha Latte and Matcha Strawberry were the first releases. The name refers to the tanuki, a raccoon dog from Japanese folklore associated with sociability and hospitality. The design also draws on Japanese pop culture, with labels reminiscent of colourful, glossy stickers.
