Special Features:

Aged for over thirty years, this cognac comes from the family estate La Pouyade in Grande Champagne. Ugni-Blanc wine from vines grown on chalky clay soils is distilled twice with its lees in a Charentais pot still. At 44%, XO Grande Réserve combines a full-bodied taste with a supple texture.

Vanilla and honey mingle with candied fruit, mango, orange, apricot and dark chocolate. Peach, nuts and maple syrup complement the sweet fruit character, while cinnamon, oak, black tea and rancio add spicy, mature accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose initially reveals cocoa, nougat, buttered almonds and red fruit compote. With some aeration, prunes, dark raisins and honey emerge, along with the scent of vanilla wafers.
• Palate: The cognac feels silky and complex on the palate. Peach, nuts and maple syrup meet cinnamon, rancio, oak and black tea.
• Finish: The long, warming finish reveals oak, dark chocolate and espresso.

Distillery/Bottler:

Honoré Fillioux founded the house in 1880 and acquired La Pouyade in Juillac-le-Coq in 1894. Christophe Fillioux took over in 2015 as the fifth generation of the family. The family estate in Grande Champagne carries out viticulture, winemaking, distillation, ageing and blending.

The house's wines undergo malolactic fermentation before distillation. Christophe and Pascal Fillioux select casks directly from different coopers in the Charente, giving them a range of cask influences for their blends. Regular tasting guides maturation and the selection of the spirits.
