For Smokiverse, Ardbeg changed its mashing process: less water and more grain produced a particularly concentrated wort. The experiment increased the formation of fruity and sweet aromas. This limited single malt was released for Ardbeg Day 2025 and the 25th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee.

The whisky matured in bourbon casks, carries no age statement and was bottled at 48.3% in bottles of 0.7 litres. Alongside barley and tropical fruit, sweet peat smoke, creosote, spices, dark sugar, wood and charcoal shape its character. It is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fruity notes recall smoked chewing gum, joined by ripe barley and toasted sourdough bread. A little water brings out dense, sweet peat smoke and gently smoked tropical fruit.
• Palate: The whisky feels rich and creamy on the palate. Sharp, sooty notes of creosote, aniseed and clove give way to muscovado sweetness, pronounced wood and charcoal.
• Finish: The almost endless finish brings together earthy peat moss and glowing campfire embers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1815, Ardbeg distillery stands on Islay’s south coast. It operates four copper stills. The Glenmorangie Company acquired the distillery in 1997, securing its future.

The Ardbeg Committee was established in 2000 as a community of the distillery’s supporters. Its 25th anniversary provided the occasion for Smokiverse. The single malt is an official Ardbeg bottling.
