Maturation in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts gives this 13-year-old bottling a rich, dark-fruited and spicy sherry-cask character. The Benrinnes was distilled in 2012 and bottled by Signatory Vintage in 2026 at 57.1% as Edition 78 of the 100 Proof Edition. The bottle contains 0.7 litres; the whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Raisins, dates and dark chocolate are accompanied by orange peel, oak and warming spices. Fruitcake, dark caramel, cocoa and walnut add further depth, while dry oak emerges in the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals pronounced raisins, dates and dark chocolate. Orange peel, spices and polished oak provide further accents.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and oily on the palate. Dark sugar syrup, fruitcake, toasted nuts and sweet sherry spice shape the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit and cocoa fading alongside dry oak and gentle tannins.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benrinnes Distillery is located near Aberlour in Speyside and moved to its present site at Ben Rinnes in 1835. Much of its production is used in blended Scotch whisky, so standalone Benrinnes bottlings are relatively uncommon.

Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother. Following the acquisition of Edradour in 2002, the distillery grounds near Pitlochry developed into the independent bottler’s headquarters; the move was completed in 2007. For Edition 78, Signatory Vintage bottled this Benrinnes matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts.
