Special Features:

The Caviste Special Edition offers a bolder interpretation of Black Bush than the classic bottling, with an alcohol content of 43% and at least 80% Bushmills single malt. The single malt component matures for seven to nine years in sherry casks before being married with grain whiskey. This 0.7-litre edition is sold as a single bottle without gift packaging.

The malt is triple distilled. Maturation takes place in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, with the single malt component maturing predominantly in Spanish oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. The whiskey is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

The rich yet smooth profile also features dried banana, candied pineapple, apricot, praline, mocha, vanilla, a creamy milky note and delicate roasted aromas. The whiskey is full-bodied and well structured, with a long, aromatic finish that never becomes overly sweet.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose brings together sweet malt beer, sherry and raisins with caramel toffee, roasted almonds and brown cane sugar. Oak and vanilla appear alongside red and dried fruits, complemented by dried banana and mocha. With aeration, caramel, praline and roasted coffee become more pronounced.
  • Palate: Wild berries mingle on the palate with malt candy, rum-soaked raisins, roasted nuts, cocoa, dates and cinnamon. A smooth, full texture also carries butterscotch, candied lemon, malted barley and a delicate rose note.
  • Finish: The finish is long and malty, with dried fruits, forest honey, allspice and delicate roasted notes. It is robust and dry without becoming overly sweet.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Old Bushmills Distillery is located in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, and produces its whiskeys in Bushmills. Official records date back to 1608, when the locality was granted a licence to distil. The water used by the distillery comes from the River Bush and flows over basalt rock.

Bushmills produces and bottles this blend as an official distillery bottling. The Caviste edition is intended for French specialist retailers and has a slightly higher alcohol content than the classic Black Bush.
