For this Soho Selection release, Milroy's brings together whisky from two ex-bourbon barrels numbered 5683 and 31. Glen Moray distilled the whisky on 17 February 2009; after 17 years of maturation, it was bottled on 18 February 2026. The worldwide release comprises 112 bottles of 0.7 litres each.

This non-smoky single malt was bottled at a cask strength of 54.3%. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colour. Its character combines orchard fruit and chocolate with pastries, spicy malt and dry grassy notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with bold, warm spice, citrus notes, toffee, oak and crisp green apple. With a little time, cinnamon doughnuts, cocoa powder, subtle floral notes and dried hay emerge. Later, the oak recedes, allowing buttery pastries, red berries and coconut to become more pronounced.
• Palate: The lively palate initially centres on chilli chocolate, black pepper and cinnamon, accompanied by orchard fruit and sweet pastries. An earthy paprika note and pronounced spicy maltiness add further detail. With water, a buttery texture develops alongside warm nuttiness.
• Finish: Toasted oak and warming baking spices linger through the medium-length finish. Dry grass and delicate oak spice complete the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Moray stands beside the River Lossie in Elgin. Whisky production began there in 1897, in a former brewery. Alongside maturation in ex-bourbon casks, the Speyside distillery experiments with casks previously used for different wines and other drinks.

Milroy's of Soho has been based on Greek Street in London since 1964. Today, the whisky specialist also has a bar and hosts tastings. The team selects whiskies for its own bottling ranges and releases them under the Milroy's name. The Soho Selection brings together discoveries from different distilleries and unusual cask maturations.
