Kyrö Malt transforms Finland’s rye culture into a distinctive whisky. It is made as a single batch from 100% malted Finnish whole-grain rye, distilled twice in pot stills and matured for at least three years in new American white oak barrels. Bottled at 47.2% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, it displays a robust rye character.

Rye is demanding to process and gives this whisky a distinctly spicy foundation. Pepper and rye bread are balanced by vanilla, caramel and honey, while dried fruit and wild berries add fruity accents.

Born in a Sauna refers to the story behind the distillery’s creation. Kyrö bottles the whisky itself and offers it without chill filtration or added colouring.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Kyrö Distillery Company produces this rye malt in Isokyrö and bottles it for the Kyrö brand. The idea for a distillery devoted entirely to rye arose when five friends shared rye whisky in a sauna. Kyrö launched its Malt Whisky in 2019.

The distillery found its home in a former dairy in Isokyrö. Finnish whole-grain rye remains the core raw material in every Kyrö spirit; for this whisky, the company is responsible for its production, maturation and bottling.
