Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 52.9% | Chill filtration: No
Special Features:
The combination of three Oloroso octave casks and two refill hogsheads shapes this nine-year-old Linkwood from Cask Series 026. The Speyside single malt was distilled in February 2016 and bottled by North Star Spirits in August 2025 at 52.9%. The release comprises 624 bottles and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.
Ripe apple, pear and peach meet raisin, vanilla and caramel. Sweet malt, toffee, sherry, dried fruit, pastry and delicate oak lead to honey and a warm, spicy length.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose reveals apple, pear, peach, raisin, vanilla and caramel.
- Palate: The whisky is creamy on the palate, combining malt, toffee, sherry, dried fruit and pastry with oak.
- Finish: The finish is long, with honey, raisin and malty warmth.
Distillery/Bottler:
Linkwood Distillery is located near Elgin in Speyside and was founded by Peter Brown in 1821. Very clear wort, long fermentation and slow distillation with extensive copper contact foster the distillery’s fragrant, fruit-forward character.
North Star Spirits is an independent, family-run bottler from Glasgow, founded by Iain Croucher in 2016. The company selects Scotch whiskies cask by cask and also undertakes work such as reracking whisky into sherry casks. For Cask Series 026, North Star Spirits assembled the parcel of casks and bottled the whisky.
