A finish in French Limousin oak adds a pronounced spicy dimension to this Highland Single Malt's fruitiness. The whisky comes from Loch Lomond's distinctive Straight Neck Pot Stills and matures in American oak casks. The selection includes bourbon, refill and re-charred casks. Twelve months in Limousin oak casks complete its total maturation of 14 years.

Fruit, honeyed sweetness and gentle smoke combine with the spice of French oak. Michael Henry brings together the matured whiskies for this bottling. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration in 0.7-litre bottles and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, coconut, green apple and pear mingle with cinnamon and clove. Lemon adds to the fruity, spicy aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet toffee and vanilla fudge meet grapefruit, further citrus notes and pineapple. Toasted oak complements the fruity and sweet impressions.
• Finish: The long finish reveals gentle smoke and warming oak spice with clove and anise.

Distillery/Bottler:

The present Loch Lomond Distillery was opened by the Littlemill Distilling Company at its current site in 1966. The year 1814, often associated with the brand, refers instead to an earlier distillery near Tarbet at the northern end of Loch Lomond.

Loch Lomond uses both traditional swan-neck stills and Straight Neck Pot Stills. The latter contain special plates within their straight necks, influencing contact between alcohol vapour and copper and allowing different spirit styles to be selected precisely. Fermentation lasting at least 92 hours supports the distillery's fruity character. Casks are repaired and re-charred in the on-site cooperage, giving the distillery control over the preparation of its maturation casks as well.
