Special Features:

For this release in the Director's Special range, Elixir Distillers selected a Macallan matured for 31 years and bottled the whisky at 41.2% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a premium box.

The sensory profile centres on red fruit, honey and sweet pastry notes. Malty, herbal and peppery accents follow on the palate before tobacco and oak emerge in the long, silky finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines intense wild strawberries with baked vanilla and honeycomb. A delicate lemon note and Linzer tart filled with red berry jam complete the aromatic profile.
• Palate: The whisky is rich and malty on the palate. Wild strawberries, mint and eucalyptus meet the gentle heat of green peppercorns, while the velvety texture carries notes of apple pie and rye bread.
• Finish: The finish is long and silky, with lingering tobacco and a pronounced influence of oak. The pleasant texture endures.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Macallan Distillery stands on the Easter Elchies Estate beside the River Spey. Alexander Reid founded the distillery, which received its distilling licence in 1824. It produced the 31-year-old Speyside single malt used for this release.

Elixir Distillers selected the whisky and bottled it independently under The Single Malts of Scotland brand as a Director's Special. Since 2005, the company has released selected whiskies from Scottish distilleries under this brand to present their individual character at a particular stage of maturation.
