Special Features:

A First Fill Bolgheri Hogshead lends this Mortlach a Tuscan red wine influence. Distilled in 2007, the Single Malt belongs to the Kirsch Dragon Edition and combines dark fruit with wine notes, chocolate, leather and fine tannins. It matured in cask number 102.

Signatory Vintage bottled the whisky on 3 July 2026 after 19 years, at a cask strength of 56.6%. This single-cask release comprises 287 bottles and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. A dragon motif decorates both the bottle and the black gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe cherries and dark plums mingle with spicy oak on the nose. A trace of malty sweetness and subtle red wine notes complete the aromas.
• Palate: Juicy dark fruit meets malt and spicy wood on the palate. The pronounced cask influence remains well integrated.
• Finish: The long finish is dry and lightly spicy. Dark fruit and oak linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Mortlach was founded in 1823 as Dufftown's first legal distillery. Alexander Cowie shaped its distinctive production style through a complex process known as 2.81-times distillation and traditional worm-tub condensers. These cool the alcohol vapour inside coiled pipes. The process contributes to the robust, meaty house style that earned Mortlach the nickname Beast of Dufftown.

Independent bottler Signatory Vintage is responsible for the selection and bottling. Andrew Symington founded the company with his brother in 1988. His involvement with single-cask whiskies had begun earlier at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. After acquiring Edradour distillery in 2002, Signatory moved its operations entirely to the distillery's site in Pitlochry by 2007.
