Twelve years of maturation give this Penderyn a pronounced fruity character, complemented by vanilla and oak. The single malt brings together red berries and plums with honey-sweet malt, without any smokiness.

Penderyn bottles the whisky at 46% alcohol without added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and honey meet orchard fruit, red berries and plums, with a gentle note of oak spice alongside the fruit.
• Palate: The whisky feels full and soft on the palate. Vanilla fudge, baked apple, cherry and spiced plum combine with a little nutmeg and other spice notes.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla, red berries and toasted oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Penderyn Distillery was established in the village of Penderyn, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Founded in the late 1990s, it set out to bring whisky distilling back to Wales after more than a century. In 2000, the distillery began using a copper still designed by Dr David Faraday; its first whisky reached the market in 2004.

In the Faraday still, vapour rises from the pot through copper columns with several plates. This produces a particularly light spirit, whose flavour the distillery develops further through cask maturation. Penderyn now also operates traditional stills alongside the Faraday still.
