Former bourbon casks shape the smooth, honey-led character of Proper No. Twelve. This Irish blend brings together triple-distilled single malt and grain whiskeys after maturation. They spend at least four years in selected oak casks, whose charred interiors contribute to the development of colour and flavour. The whiskey is bottled at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Vanilla, honey and toasted wood form the core of the flavour profile, complemented by fruit and a creamy toffee finish. This approachable blend can be enjoyed neat or over ice and also works in long drinks with ginger ale and in cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, baked apple and sweet, ripe berries meet a little honey. Floral notes, vanilla and caramelised pear complete the aromas.
• Palate: The whiskey is smooth and balanced on the palate. Vanilla, honey and toasted wood combine with cocoa.
• Finish: The finish is warming and creamy, with toffee and delicate oak and caramel notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Conor McGregor launched Proper No. Twelve in 2018 together with Eire Born Spirits. The name refers to Crumlin in Dublin's postal district 12, where he grew up. He worked with Master Distiller David Elder on its development. Around a hundred blending trials preceded the selection of the final recipe. The whiskey is produced at Bushmills.

Bushmills distillery lies on Ireland's northern coast and is particularly known for its single malts made from malted barley and distillation in copper pot stills. To produce the malt component of Proper No. Twelve, malted barley is processed with local spring water. Fermentation lasting around 50 hours is followed by triple distillation. After cask maturation, the Master Blender selects the malt and grain whiskeys for blending.
