Special Features:

Saar Riesling forms the base of Ferdinand's Dry Riesling Vermouth, complemented by regional herbs and flowers. Its origins are closely linked to the steep, south-facing Saarburger Rausch vineyard, where Devonian slate soils and a cool climate shape winegrowing. In this vermouth, the fruit and minerality of Riesling meet the bitterness of wormwood and floral, spicy notes.

Alongside these defining impressions are white grapes, a subtle sweetness, peppery coriander and a hint of thyme. The vermouth can be enjoyed neat and lightly chilled, or used in a Martini. It contains 18% alcohol and comes in a 0.5-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, mineral impressions mingle with rose petals and elderflowers. A delicate herbal note complements the floral aroma.
• Palate: The vermouth is fresh and dry on the palate. Floral white wine notes and herbs meet a delicate, slate-like minerality.
• Finish: Floral notes linger through the long finish, which closes with clarity and precision.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ferdinand's brings together Denis Reinhardt and Erik Wimmers with distiller Andreas Vallendar and winemaker Dorothee Zilliken of the VDP wine estate Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken. The brand began in 2013 with a gin refined with Riesling. Its name honours the Prussian head forester Ferdinand Geltz, a co-founder of the VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer.

The interplay of winegrowing and distilling expertise shapes the range. The Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken wine estate supplies the Riesling for the Dry Vermouth. Andreas Vallendar runs the Avadis Distillery in Wincheringen-Bilzingen, where his family has produced fruit spirits for several generations. Wine remains the foundation of the vermouth, with herbs and flowers complementing its character.
