Martini Rosso gains its character from selected wines combined with a secret blend of botanicals. Alongside local herbs, the composition includes rare spices and exotic woods. Its deep red colour and full, herb-led flavour distinguish this sweet Italian vermouth. The recipe dates back to Luigi Rossi, who developed Rosso in 1863.

This bottling contains 0.75 litres at 14.5% alcohol and comes without gift packaging. For an Americano, Martini Rosso can be combined with a bitter aperitif and soda water over ice, with a slice of orange to complement the drink. Olives, salted almonds or a strongly flavoured cheese make suitable accompaniments.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals fresh herbs with hints of oregano and juniper. Floral notes and a touch of caramel round out the aromatic bouquet.
• Palate: Rosso opens smoothly on the palate, with lively tension and balanced sweetness. Floral notes, citrus and caramel emerge as the flavour develops.
• Finish: A distinct, pleasantly bitter note lingers on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Martini & Rossi begins with a distillery founded in Turin in 1847. Alessandro Martini and Teofilo Sola took over the business in 1863 and brought in Luigi Rossi as a partner. That same year, Rossi created Rosso with his vermouth recipe.

In 1864, the company established its production in Pessione, near Turin. The site stood opposite the railway station on the line to the port of Genoa, offering favourable conditions for trade. The facility was continually expanded, and Pessione remained the centre of production even after the company's international expansion. Production has continued there without interruption for more than 160 years.
