Stork Club Cherry Rye combines the producer’s own Straight Rye Whiskey, made from locally grown rye, with sour cherry. The blend contains sour cherry nectar and a small amount of cherry eau-de-vie; vanilla and sugar round it out. The result is a cherry liqueur at 30% ABV.

Sour cherry shapes the sweet-tart flavour, while the whiskey contributes spice; almond and vanilla add softer accents. Cherry Rye can be enjoyed neat or over ice and also works in a long drink with cola.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sour cherry leads, joined by vanilla and a spicy rye note.
• Palate: Sour cherry tastes full and fruity on the palate. The texture is soft, with rye spice and a little vanilla sweetness alongside the fruit.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting: cherry and mild spice fade together, accompanied by a sweet vanilla note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Spreewood Distillers GmbH makes and bottles Stork Club Cherry Rye in Schlepzig, in the Spreewald. Sebastian Brack, Steffen Lohr and Bastian Heuser took over a small distillery there in 2016 and focused it on rye whiskey. They source rye from the surrounding area, mill it on site and distil it into whiskey.
