Special Features:

Víti Brennivín brings together the traditional caraway character of Icelandic aquavit and a barley spirit made from local raw materials. It is triple-distilled in small batches. The custom-built distillation equipment is designed to preserve the flavour of the barley and the essential oils of the botanicals.

To develop its flavour, the barley spirit is redistilled in a pot still with caraway seeds, rhubarb, angelica root, birch leaves, creeping thyme, Iceland moss, kale and meadowsweet. Caraway is the dominant flavour. The aquavit is not cask-aged and is bottled at 47% alcohol. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense caraway sits above a bready base note. Herbs and spices round out the bouquet.
• Palate: Caraway dominates the palate, accompanied by bold peppery spice, dry pine notes and layered herbal flavours. Fresh citrus notes meet earthy herbal tones.
• Finish: The long finish is refreshing. Caraway and herbal spice linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

The family-run Eimverk Distillery was founded in Iceland in 2009. Its approach centres on local ingredients and specially developed distillation technology. Alongside Víti Brennivín, it produces Flóki single malt whisky and Vor gin.

While its first whisky stocks were maturing, Eimverk had already launched Vor and Víti. Both share the same base barley spirit as Flóki, but gain their individual character from local herbs and other botanicals. The distillery thus uses its grain base to create three distinct styles of spirit.
