The gin is produced in the Netherlands and bottled at 46% alcohol. It is certified organic, bears the certification body code NL-BIO-01 and contains no colouring.

The recipe uses six botanicals: juniper berries, angelica root, coriander seeds, cardamom, orange peel and grapefruit peel. No.3 thus focuses on the interplay of juniper, citrus and spice rather than an extensive list of ingredients. Its dry style suits classic drinks such as Gin and Tonic, Martini and Negroni.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Juniper clearly leads on the nose. Orange and grapefruit add fresh citrus notes, while cardamom and coriander contribute a subtle spiciness.
• Palate: Juniper remains prominent on the palate, joined by orange and grapefruit and the balanced spiciness of cardamom and coriander. The flavour is clear and structured.
• Finish: The finish is dry and earthy, with a root-like angelica note. Subtle spices and a light trace of citrus linger alongside it.

Distillery/Bottler:

No.3 is the creation of the London wine and spirits merchant Berry Brothers & Rudd. Its name refers to the company's address at number 3 St. James’s Street. The gin took two years to develop, with contributions from gin specialist Dr. David Clutton and Alessandro Palazzi of the DUKES Bar. While the idea originated in London, distillation takes place in the Netherlands.

No.3 uses a historic copper pot still surrounded by masonry. The weighed botanicals steep in it for 16 hours in a base spirit made from organically grown French winter wheat. Soaking softens the dried ingredients and helps extract their aromas. Distillation takes up to seven hours the following day. The master distiller separates the heads and selects the heart of the distillate. After resting and filtration, the gin is diluted with water to 46% alcohol.
