Special Features:

An Oloroso sherry finish in a small Octave cask shapes this Glenkinchie, part of Duncan Taylor's anniversary bottlings celebrating 50 years of Kirsch Import. This cask format has a larger internal wood surface area relative to the volume of liquid than larger casks. The additional maturation can therefore intensify the interaction between whisky and wood.

The whisky was distilled on 30 September 2013 and bottled on 14 September 2026 at twelve years old. Cask 12352875 yielded 95 numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. It was bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%, without colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dried fruit combines with sweet sherry notes and restrained spice on the nose. Oak adds a subtle accent.
• Palate: Raisins and dark fruit sit alongside malt and spicy wood notes on the palate. The whisky is powerful and balanced, with a dense, assertive texture that nevertheless remains elegant.
• Finish: Sherry notes, gentle spice and a dry woody impression linger on the lasting finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenkinchie is located near Pencaitland in East Lothian, close to Edinburgh. John and George Rate founded the distillery in 1825 under the name Milton; it has been called Glenkinchie since 1837. Its usual style is light, floral and grassy. The surrounding countryside, with its fields and wildflowers, has earned it the nickname Garden Distillery.

Duncan Taylor is the independent bottler responsible for this release. Originally a whisky cask merchant in Glasgow, the company now has its own warehousing, bottling and cooperage facilities in Huntly. For The Octave, Duncan Taylor transfers already matured whiskies into small casks for further maturation. Developing selected whiskies through an additional cask influence is thus central to the range's concept.
