The 12-year-old Double Cask matures for at least twelve years in American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry in Jerez. American oak contributes vanilla and fresh fruit, while European oak adds gentle spices and dried fruit.

Introduced in 2016, the Double Cask Collection combines the house’s sherry-led style with the softer sweetness of American oak. Light and red design elements reflect the balance between the two types of oak in the new 2025 presentation. The redesigned packaging is inspired by David Carson.

The whisky is bottled at 40% in 0.7-litre bottles. Its colour develops naturally in the cask; it contains no added colouring and is chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines creamy fudge, delicate caramel, candied orange and lemon with vanilla, subtle spice and a restrained impression of light oak.
• Palate: On the palate, runny honey and soft caramel mingle with raisins, milk chocolate and creamy toffee. Orange peel, lively citrus notes and gentle cinnamon bring spicy freshness to the rounded mouthfeel.
• Finish: The medium-length finish provides gentle warmth. Spicy yet sweet oak, lingering vanilla sweetness and a hint of orange peel lead into a dry, precise conclusion.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Macallan was founded on the Easter Elchies Estate in 1824, and its distillery is located in Speyside. The Macallan distillery produces the single malt. For the Double Cask Collection, the whisky matures in American and European oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry. The American oak is sent to Spain for sherry seasoning. The Macallan Distillers Ltd releases the whisky as an official bottling.
