Special features: This 14-year-old single malt whisky from the renowned Inchgower Distillery has been bottled as part of the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory Vintage. It matured for 14 years in a first fill Marsala hogshead and was bottled at a robust 60.1% ABV in natural cask strength. The bottling is limited to 304 bottles and comes in an attractive metal tube.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: An elegant, subtly maritime bouquet with a fresh breeze of sea salt and a light note of iodine, accompanied by sunny aromas of ripe oranges, candied citrus fruits, and a hint of sweet dried fruits. Spicy malt and subtle vanilla round off the complex aroma.
- Palate: Powerful and full-bodied, the Inchgower unfolds a harmonious combination of fruity orange and sweet malt. The dried fruits continue on the palate, accompanied by a pleasant spiciness and a subtle salty note that recalls the Scottish coast.
- Finish: Long-lasting, warming, and balanced. The finish is characterized by sweet orange peel, spicy malt, and a touch of sea salt that stylishly emphasizes the maritime origins of the whisky.
Distillery/Bottler: The Inchgower Distillery was founded in 1871 by Alexander Wilson & Company and is located at the mouth of the River Spey in the Scottish region of Speyside. It is known for producing single malt whiskies with a characteristic maritime influence. The majority of the whisky produced is used in blends, with the single malt Inchgower rarely appearing as a bottling. Signatory Vintage is an independent bottler specializing in cask strength whiskies and is known for its careful selection and bottling of single casks.
