Special Features:

Casamigos Mezcal Joven is made in Santiago Matatlán in Oaxaca exclusively from Espadín agaves. The split agave hearts cook for four to six days in earthen pits lined with volcanic rock heated over a slow-burning oak fire. After cooling for 24 hours, the agaves are crushed by a horse-drawn tahona stone.

Depending on the season, fermentation takes two to eight days. The mezcal is distilled twice in copper pot stills and then rests for 30 days before mountain spring water is added. It is bottled at 40% alcohol. Alongside its delicate smokiness, it offers notes of banana and mango, dried oregano and thyme, with hints of liquorice and minerality.

The bottle, designed by Rande Gerber, also gains an individual character from its handcrafted surface finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, herbal and fruity aromas combine with a subtle smoky note.
• Palate: The mezcal is smooth and balanced on the palate. Tamarind and pomegranate meet fresh mint and black pepper, while gentle smoke remains in the background.
• Finish: The long, silky finish is smooth, with lingering herbs, spice and subtle smoky notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman initially founded Casamigos as a tequila brand. For their mezcal, they worked with a family from Oaxaca whose production tradition spans four generations. Production takes place in small palenques, the traditional facilities where mezcal is made. This collaboration preserves methods such as cooking in earthen pits and crushing with a tahona. Clooney and Gerber taste and approve every batch before bottling.
