Compass Box Glasgow Blend - Blended Scotch Whiskey

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 43% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Glasgow Blend combines a high proportion of malt whisky with the full-bodied, smoky style that Compass Box associates with Glasgow’s historical taste in whisky. Around 65% of the blend consists of Highland and Islay malts, alongside Lowland grain whisky. It was first released in 2014.

The whiskies mature in sherry-seasoned butts, American oak casks and hogsheads, and custom-made French oak casks. Fruitcake and sherry meet spices, oak, peat smoke and maritime notes. Compass Box bottles the blend at 43%, without chill filtration or added colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, smoke and a sea breeze mingle with sweet hay, gardenias and a savoury note of smoked meat.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and smoky on the palate. Fruitcake, sherry sweetness and spices meet red fruit, creamy vanilla and honeysuckle. Ashy minerality and a waxy texture complement the savoury notes.
• Finish: The short finish combines smoke with charred oak, peppered dried meat, dried fruit and salty sea air.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 2000, Compass Box specialises in blending Scotch whisky. At its Blending Room in Richmond, near London, the company combines selected malt and grain whiskies; its own whisky stocks mature in Scotland. Founder John Glaser was the whiskymaker responsible for Glasgow Blend.
